OC Quotes Compilation

TA-DA! 
My nine characters (aside from Embers characters) that I'm currently working on, not including any males, because I am terrible at drawing males!
The last four hadn't been uploaded, so...surprise?
I'll be taking the other ones down since I've uploaded this. 
In order from upper left to bottom right:

Shiro: *nothing* Shiro doesn't speak much (well, at all, really). It's not that she's shy, it's that she's been conditioned not to speak, and therefore avoids it. Most of what she'd like to say comes through in facial expressions and, if the message doesn't get across, she pushes the person out of the way and does what needs doing. A real sweetheart, and strong willed, yet timid at the same time. 

Samantha: "You're angry. I understand that. Hey, I'd be mad at you if you weren't angry. What I did was a big risk. It was stupid, dangerous, and completely the opposite of what you told me to do, but I don't regret it, because it was right. Name the punishment. I stand by my actions." Spoken to the captain of her ship after she broke one of their crew members out "land-prison" (an actual prison facility not associated with the ship) against orders. Preferring logic and fact over emotion, she still heartily expresses what she's feeling and has no problem laying down the law (or breaking it) to keep things running smoothly. 

Xador: "Grab a pillow from somewhere, take a seat, and let me tell you a story." One of my most cheerful characters. She needed to disappear for a while, so she dyed her hair as brightly as possible: become so obvious that the right people won't look twice. She's all about adventure and action and can't stand sitting in one place for too long. Her current concern is locating and retrieving her sister, whom she hasn't seen in about five years. 

Jade Dracona: "Don't misinterpret my actions. Yes, I'm doing this to make work easier for my father but I'm making it easier for him so I won't have to help the rest of my family when he passes on. It's my life, and I intend to use it for my own ambitions. It all comes back to me in the end." She's a sweetheart, she really is, but she has her own plans and she intends to fulfill them no matter what. Her ultimate dream is to own a self-sufficient apothecary shop with a greenhouse in the back where she grows her own herbs. She has a pet rock dragon that she found (it hatched and imprinted on her) when she was seven that she ingeniously named "Rocky."

Phoenix: "If I had a penny for every time you were an idiot, I would be able to afford the alcohol I require to forget that you exist, and let me tell you, punk: I've got a strong liver." She can be quite pleasant, really! It's just that her temper is shorter than the diameter of a grain of sand. She has no association with fire (though she does with dragons), but she lit a guy on fire at a bar once, and the name kind of stuck. One of my oldest characters, she's also gone through the most character development. She's much tamer now, though she'll still get in a fight if things get boring, but she makes sure her actions are less permanent. 

Samala: "If there is a beast inside of a man, is he any less of a man? Or...Or can the beast be granted his humanity, and become less of a monster?" She likes people, but she's not used to them, and often gets social things wrong and there are many things she doesn't understand. She was never taught to read, though she's able to keep this hidden for the most part (she eventually learns to read at an elementary-school level when one of her friends notices the dilemma and gives her lessons in secret). She's associated with gryphons.

Onyx Dragon: "This city is a death pit; no one can walk its streets during the day, let alone a woman at night. So I became more than a man: I became something feared, something hated; I became the reason they stay in at night and only travel in groups." Cliche, I know. Sorry. I hadn't recorded this section yet and had to wing it. I decided one day I wanted to design a masked hero, and she was the result: she made her costume so she looked like a man instead of a woman (helmet not shown), and her symbol is a black dragon. She doesn't have much of a story; I just wanted to draw a masked hero every once in a while, and I have a bit of a black dragon obsession...

071885: "My brother deserved justice, not revenge, and that's what you gave him, so thank you." Not much a quote describing her personality, but it's something. The orange-eyed baldy! I haven't drawn her in ages. She doesn't interact with people much, preferring solitude and books. Keeps her head shaved for convenience (couldn't be bothered to brush it; barely remembers to cut it). Orange eyes are another story entirely. From a story involving genetic experimentation. 

Erika: "I don't mind it. Not really. No matter how much I walk, no matter how far from home I get, I can look up at the stars and it's like I've barely moved." Real name is Erika, but she went under the name Jenna (Jenna/Erika), essentially becoming "Generic" in her name and doing her best to do so in her appearance. She backpacked all the way across Canada and down into the States, working odd jobs when she could, sleeping in a bag-that-unfolds-into-a-hammock that hangs from tree limbs to keep herself off the ground. Infamous for her escape-artistry and a mischief-enthusiast, she and her sister (Grace, who's doing the same thing) find each other every few months by sending the other GPS coordinates and singing verses of songs, one sister singing a verse while the other runs towards the sound, until they finally meet. 

All done with Crayola markers (which now have horribly depleted ink, as can be seen from Samala's hair). 
I always used to fear that all of my OCs looked the same. Whenever I do something like this, though, I'm reminded that that clearly is not the case (despite the fact that at least half of them started out with the name "Jade" or "Samala" ).

I received one request when I was most of the way through these, so I decided to finish working on them before doing it. I'll probably get that one done tonight. I'm also getting interfacing tonight (hopefully) so I'll be able to get back to making Ponies! WOOHOO!

I only have 19 pages left in my sketch book! D: That likely won't last the summer (unless I get really into the sewing stuff again; I decided to work at a slower pace for a while for my mental health instead of stressing at it constantly). If I can get to Fredericton or Saint John at some point I'll likely replace my book. 
Until then, 19 pages it is (one of which is going to a DBZ fanart piece that's been requested).
